 Lead Entity

Since September of 1998, the HCCC has received a Salmon Recovery Lead Entity grant from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife to fulfill activities described in RCW 77.85.050 and 060 throughout the Hood Canal and Eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca. To view a map of the Lead Entity area, click here.

These activities include developing both short term (3 Year Work Program) and long term (Habitat Work Schedule) project lists; soliciting sponsors to implement those programs; and evaluating and ranking project proposals. To do this, we've established two committees including a Technical Advisory Group and a Habitat Project List Committee. Committee rosters are updated annually.

To help citizens and project sponsors understand and participate in the local salmon habitat recovery process, we have developed a

This Process Guide establishes a 2008 Timeline to guide our local Lead Entity process as well as groundrules and criteria for each of the Lead Entity committees.

For the 2008 grant round, project preapplications are due to the on-line Project Information System (PRISM) between June 2 and 20 and final applications are due July 18.

Please contact Richard Brocksmith, Lead Entity Coordinator, by email or by phone at (360) 394-7999, for more information on the salmon habitat recovery process or how to submit a project proposal.
